By the age of seventeen, Crystal already had her first byline while an intern at The Georgetown Times newspaper in her hometown of Georgetown, SC. She went on to write for The State newspaper and The Gamecock, both while pursuing her undergraduate degree at The University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC. Crystal currently works as a ghostwriter and freelances for individuals and businesses.
Crystal obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism & Mass Communications and English in 2004. She went on to receive a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 2011. Crystal established Write Works Unlimited in 2009 to provide copywriting and marketing services to individuals and businesses. Crystal is a current member of The Authors Guild, the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and writes YA Contemporary fiction, MG Speculative fiction, and Adult Women's fiction.
When asked, why does she love to write, Crystal responded: "I come alive when I write. It's all that I want to do and it's all I ever think about doing. It brings me peace and joy. I want others to feel the exact same way when they read my stories and explore the characters and worlds that I build. My goal is to leave a legacy behind where my writing can be read for generations to come. I want to touch people's lives and impact them in a way that will forever leave an imprint on their hearts and minds. I write because I was born to write, and I find solace in the fact that when the day comes that my body is no longer in the physical form, that my words will forever live on for people to continue to enjoy."
Crystal lives in metro Atlanta with her husband, Matthew, a lifetime collection of books, and two cats, Pebbles and Bam Bam. When she's not writing, Crystal enjoys traveling, reading, visiting amusement parks, and dancing.
